Memorial services for Robert E. “Bob” Young will be held at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Stewart Family Funeral Home with Deacon Curtis Harmon officiating. Robert E. “Bob” Young, age 86, of Tyler, TX, formerly of Mauston, WI passed away peacefully on June 7, 2014 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Bob was born May 3, 1928 in Mauston, WI, the son of Elmer and Mary Young. After High School, he enlisted in the Air Force for three years. He attended radio school and became a radio operator onboard a B-25. Serving in Japan with the Occupation Forces following WWII, he trained as a cryptographer and was assigned to several early warning radar sites in northern Honshu and Fukui. After discharge, he worked in the family’s oil business. In 1954, he attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK earning his Simulated Instrument Flight Instructors license. In 1964, Bob became a licensed Real Estate Broker. He opened the Robert Young Agency in Mauston and remained in business for 40 years. He served for a time as president of the original Juneau County Realtors Association and also as the president of the Greater Mauston Area Development Corporation. Bob was united in marriage to Romelle F. Schultz of New Lisbon, WI on December 28, 1963. Their marriage was blessed with three wonderful children, Brian, Rita and Rhonda. Since their retirement move to Tyler in 2006 (finally avoiding Wisconsin’s cold winters), Bob enjoyed peaceful mornings on the deck, solving daily crossword puzzles and reading. Besides his love and devotion to his family, he also enjoyed the company of Missy, the family dog. Bob even embraced new technology, looking forward to frequent Skype sessions with his children. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Romelle, and his children Brian Young and wife Elizabeth of Raleigh, NC; Rita Jackson of Dallas, TX; and Rhonda Young of Appleton, WI; one grandchild, Anthony Baldinell and wife Jade of San Antonio, TX.
