Ronald Mark McLean

Celebration of Life for Ronald (Ron) Mark McLean, 76, of Tyler will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home,7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler with Pastor Ryan Stratton officiating. A reception will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 immediately following the service. A private graveside service will be held at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce McLean, Kenneth Higginbotham, Robert Kapka, Stephen Westmoreland, Mike Simpson and Darrell Shields. Ron passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, in Tyler. He was born July 1, 1950, in Dallas to Anna Lee Earle and Thomas Edson McLean. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edwin McLean, and his beloved wife of 20 years Linda McLean. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Julie Whitaker McLean. The family he was so proud of includes son Craig McLean and wife Jennifer of Lucas, TX; and son Mark McLean, of Sachse, TX; stepsons Taylor Hill of Allen, TX and Elliott Hill of Bedford, TX. He was the proud Pop to Anna Williams, Grayson McLean, Savannah McLean, Collin Hill and Blake Hill, and was blessed with three great grandchildren. Ronald was also survived by his brother Bruce McLean and wife Patty of Garland, Tx. Ron was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church. He graduated from Mesquite High School and received both his bachelor’s and master’s degree from The University of Texas at Tyler. His career started in Dallas working as a computer programmer. He eventually went to work at LTV until they closed operations. He moved his family to Tyler in 1987 to start his new career at Trane. He retired from Trane in 2009 after many different roles varying from data processing to engineering that spanned over 22 years. After moving to Tyler, Ron joined the Civil Air Patrol and Jeeps of East Texas where he made many cherished friendships. Whether, flying, four-wheeling, riding his Harley, scuba diving or just a good old fashioned road trip, Ron loved an adventure. Together, he and Julie visited all 50 States, over 30 National Parks, and enjoyed many other beautiful trips together. Ron loved being the patriarch of a large, combined family, helping them figure out life, watching them grow up and attending as many of their activities as possible. He was fiercely protective and very passionate about his family. His loving influence will never be forgotten.
