Ronald Wayne Perdue

Ronny passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Tyler after a lengthy illness. He was born November 18, 1946, in Tyler to John Lewis Perdue, Jr. and Doris Len Weitzman Perdue. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stewart Family Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler. Ronny was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Massey Perdue, his three daughters and sons-in-law, Terry Kristin and Kris Gewin, Tiffany Ann and Steven Phillips, Stephany Len and Vinh Le and grandchildren, Connor Alan Gewin, Carson McKinney Gewin, Tucker Jace Wilson, Sutton Luke Wilson, Whitley Hope Wilson, and step grandson, Chase Xuan Le. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John Randall and Jane Perdue, niece, Leah Carrie Perdue and nephew, Jon Randall Perdue. Ronny graduated from Chapel Hill High School, Tyler Junior College, and Stephen F. Austin State College. After college, he joined the Army Reserves and served for seven years during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He was a retired Purchasing Agent for the State of Texas who loved to tell stories about how much of other peoples’ money he had spent during his career! He was a proud patriot who loved his country and was never shy to share his beliefs and opinions to anyone who would listen and often to some who did not care to hear! His collection of “statement” tee shirts would rival a department store. The words “don’t do that” most always translated to “yes I will do that.” However, on one occasion he was told he could not vote unless he turned his “statement” tee shirt inside out. That time, he did comply because he really did want to vote! Shooting guns and riding his Harley were his favorite pastimes. In recent years, as his health was failing, he would say “I just can’t hit that target like I use to.” On another occasion, he laid his Harley down and some young guys ran over and set him up. God Bless those strong young men who were there to help! Though he knew his stronger days had passed, he still longed to be able to do what he loved – shoot and ride! Their caring compassion and kindness make the hardest of times more bearable.
