Services for Ronald Wayne Rogers, 60, of Tyler, will be held on Monday, February 19th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Laffoulhouz officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Ronald Rogers passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Tyler. He was born September 9, 1957 in Longview to Durand Wayne Rogers and Zoe Nell Shelton. Ron graduated from Whitesboro High School in Whitesboro, TX. He then earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Tyler Junior College and later graduated from the University of Texas, Tyler with a BA in Business. Ron held a position in engineering with Acuren in Longview. He was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church in Tyler. His hobbies included woodworking, cooking for his family, working in the yard, and designing and building landscape structures. He was extremely skillful and could repair and build almost anything. Ron was a thoughtful helpmate to his wife’s gardening. He was very proud of his children and their many accomplishments as they matured. Throughout the years, he had many adventures camping out with his sons in the cub scouts and boy scouts and enjoyed crafting countless numbers of pinewood derby cars. Ron was preceded in death by his father Durand Wayne Rogers and mother Zoe Nell Shelton. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 28 years, Debbie; children, Jeremy Michael Medders-Rogers and wife Casey, Christopher Todd Rogers and wife Lauren, Dylan Wayne Rogers and fiancée Becca, Angela Elizabeth Rogers, and Gabriel Dean Rogers. (There is one grandbaby on the way.) He is also survived by his sister, Debbie Burks and husband Jerry; brother-in-law Troy Dean Johnston; mother-in-law, Dorothy E. Johnston; and nieces and nephew, Tara, Jennifer and Brian, as well as great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Dylan Rogers, Angela Rogers, Tara Johnston, and Jerry Burks. Honorary pallbearer will be Gabriel Rogers. Visitation is scheduled from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. If desired, memorials may be made to Ron Rogers and his family.
