Services for Russell “Russ” Lee Zumwalt, 69, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Bryan Jacobe and Matt Trimble officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Zumwalt passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, surrounded by family at his home in Tyler. He was born May 17, 1953 in Moberly, Missouri to James Leon Zumwalt and Martha Lee Angelo. In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by a son, Ray Lee Zumwalt; grandchild, Baby Johns; 3 brothers, William E. Zumwalt, John R. Zumwalt and James (Jimmy) M. Zumwalt; father and mother-in law, Bill Davis and Betty Clark; sisters-in law, Sheila Ellis, and Tami Link; brothers-in-law, Weldon Hunt and Billy Davis. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 51 years, Betty Lou Zumwalt of Tyler; daughter, Jana Johns (Kyle) of Flint; and son, Johnathan (Anna) of Whitehouse; 8 grandchildren, Jewel Kirkendoll (Hunter Singleton), Nolan Kirkendoll, Raythan Zumwalt, Grayson Zumwalt, Kylee Johns, Abbey Johns, Elizabeth Johnson, and Josiah Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren, Baby Avery Lee Singleton, Rivers Singleton and Ella Kain; 5 siblings, Brenda G. Talley (Lester) of Barnesville, Georgia, Linda D. Macon (Tommy) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thomas “Tommy” L. Zumwalt (Frieda) of Conroe, Timothy “Timmy” L. Zumwalt (Theresa) of Mount Carmel, Illinois, and Daniel “Danny” L. Zumwalt (Melissa) of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Evelyn Zumwalt of Joplin, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Steve Davis (Karrie) of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Roy Lee Condray of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Davis, Kyle Johns, Nolan Kirkendoll, Frank Spangler, and Ed Woolever.
