Sara Hudnall Wallis

Services for Sara Hudnall Wallis, 101, of Tyler will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Black and John Chesley officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler. Sara passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 in Tyler. She was born December 20, 1916 in Tyler to the late William R. and Fones Oden Hudnall. Sara was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Tyler, of which her great grandparents were founders. She graduated from Tyler High School and Tyler Commercial College. She held the position of executive secretary with the Cotton Belt Railroad. Community activities included Tyler Women’s Forum, Daughters of the American Revolution, Smith County Historical Society, and Tyler Art League. Sara had a love for creating art which included newspaper illustrations, oil painting and stained glass design. Sweet Sara will always be remembered as a kind, loving, selfless, and gentle soul - a true Southern lady. Her spiritual gift was one of service, and as a Believer in Christ, we know where she is rejoicing today. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, John Jackson Wallis in 2001; sister Helen Rassman, and brothers Will Hudnall and Jack Hudnall. She is survived by her loving family including son and daughter-in-law, John and Debbie Wallis of Sugar Land; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Chesley of Flint; granddaughters, Lisa Jordan, Erin Sepmoree, Brynne Riggs, Hillary Zapata, Heather Albrecht and Lisa Chesley; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Ray of San Antonio, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Steve Jordan, Luke Albrecht, James Zapata, Chris Riggs, Neal Sepmoree and David Mangum. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Meadowlake and the excellent team from Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler. We also would like to give a special thanks to Euretha Ballow for her companionship to Sara.
