Sherman Allenson,

A memorial service for Sherman T. Allenson, Jr., 58, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Sam DeVille officiating. Sherm Allenson passed away on September 6, 2011 in Oklahoma while enjoying his favorite pastime of hiking in the wilderness. He was born on December 31, 1952 in Syracuse, New York to Sherman T. Allenson, Sr. and Wilma J. Allenson. A 1971 graduate of Midland Lee High School, Sherm went on to Texas A&M and earn a bachelor degree in Architecture followed by a Master’s Degree in Environmental Design. He married his wife Susan, in 1986 in Dallas Texas. In 1994 they moved to Florida to follow his dream of sailing the Florida Keys, Bahamas and Dry Tortugas as he worked as an architect. Among the many projects he designed while living in Florida, he was particularly proud of his architectural contribution on the Mirasol Country Club Grand Clubhouse in Palm Beach Gardens, home of the PGA Honda Classic. Sherm and Susan moved to Tyler in 2003 where he designed, built and operated Storage Plus and Pack Mail Ship until they sold it in 2006. As a self-employed commercial architect he put his mark on a numerous commercial and homes in East Texas. He greatly enjoyed time spending his spare time jogging, hiking, backpacking and photography. Sherm Allenson is survived by his loving wife, Susan Allenson of Tyler; mother, Wilma Allenson of Tyler; brother, Steve Allenson and wife Sharon of Richmond; sister, Susan McClelland and husband David of Round Rock; nieces and nephews, Shelley Raska, husband Lance, and daughter Raegan of Silver Springs, Maryland, Sara Allenson Corle and husband Ryan of Washington D.C., Kassey Vieth and husband Andy of Dayton, Ohio, Stephanie Allenson of Galveston, Kyle McClelland, wife Amber, and son Dax of Round Rock, and Mariah Bohren of Mesquite. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Corle and Lance Raska. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2011 immediately following the service at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. Memorials in memory of Sherman T.
