Susan Ledbetter Watts

Susan Ledbetter Watts, age 61, passed away on August 25, 2022. Susan was born to William Harry Ledbetter Jr. and Charlan Pittman Ledbetter on July 18, 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Susan was born at Wichita Falls General Hospital prematurely and considered a miracle from birth. Susan grew up in the North Texas area where she graduated from North Garland High School in 1979. She attended Abilene Christian University and North Texas State University before marrying Durk Darwin Watts in 1983. Susan is preceded in death by her mother, Charlan, her father, William and her, husband Durk. Susan is survived by her daughter, Kacee Watts (Ben Mitchell) of Brighton, CO; daughter, Audrey Slovacek (Eric Slovacek) of Thornton, CO; and son, Garrett Watts (Taylor Watts) of Denton, TX. She was a beloved grandmother to Grant Slovacek, Nolan Slovacek, and soon-to-be, Baby Mitchell. Susan was excitedly awaiting the arrival of the newest grandbaby. She is survived by sister, Joy Tresp (Michael Tresp) and brother, Dr. William Harry Ledbetter III (Tracey Ledbetter) and multiple nieces and nephews. Susan worked for Tyler Independent School District at the Career and Technology Center. She spent many years working at Coyote Ridge Elementary School and Meridian Elementary School in Broomfield, Colorado as a Health Aide. Susan and Durk raised their 3 children in Broomfield, Colorado where they enjoyed the beauty of the mountains before moving back to Tyler, Texas to be near her father, siblings, in-laws, Bill and Carol Watts, and the rest of her family. She had a passion for cooking, gardening and, in later years, watercolor painting, and K-Pop music. Recently she enjoyed traveling with her loved ones. She traveled to Pagosa Springs with her children and grandchildren, as well as Savannah, GA with her sister, and Las Vegas, NV to see the BTS concert with her sister, aunt, and daughters. Most recently, she went to Gatlinburg TN to celebrate the marriage of her niece. Susan had a caring heart and was very devoted to her family, children and grandchildren and spent most of her summer months in Colorado to be closer to her daughters and grandsons. A celebration of her Life will be on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, TX 75703. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m.
