Tammie Jeanene Hiett Leewright

A memorial service for Tammie Hiett Leewright, 67, of Tyler will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Grant officiating. There will be a visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Tammie was born on April 5, 1959, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler to Billie and Bobbie Hiett. Tammie and her husband owned two Leewright’s Hallmark Stores and Nail Fashions and had been entrepreneurs in Tyler since 1979. She and her husband, Bruce, enjoyed working together and especially going to markets for buying in Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta. Tammie was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and being the Founder/Director of the Girls of America Reading Club, which started with about 25 girls and built up to about 100 girls. She was at her happiest with her children and grandchildren. She kept four of them until they started school, which really made a bond with them, and so she was called Grammie. Tammie really enjoyed planting flowers whether she lived in a house or an apartment. She was an inspired poet. She wrote over fifty poems drawn from scripture of Christian beliefs. Some of her poems were framed and sold in their Hallmark stores. There were several Saturdays when she and Bruce would go to Kinkos, make a couple hundred copies, then go to Rose Rudman Park and hand them out. They always would tell the recipient to ignore the copyright and pass them on, even on social media. Tammie was preceded in death by her parents, Billie and Bobbie Hiett and by her sister’s (Terrie) husband, Dennis Spruill. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Bruce Leewright; her children, Amber Smith of Tyler, Cody Tarver of Georgetown, LeAnna Martin and husband, Rickey of Conroe, and Jason Leewright and wife, Rachel of Tyler. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Keller and Coleman Smith, Elena and Colin Tarver, Jonathan and Sharry Martin, Joshua and Belle Martin and Caleb Martin and great- grandchildren; Grant Tarver, Sunday and Shepherd Martin and her sister, Terrie Spruill of Tyler as well as several uncles, aunts, and cousins. A special uncle and aunt, David and Karen Hiett, who were with Tammie during her illness. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren: Jonathan Martin, Joshua Martin, Caleb Martin, Colin Tarver, Keller Smith, and Coleman Smith.
