Therman W. Roberts

Memorial services for Therman William Roberts, 90, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Becker and Rev. Kevin Burdett officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 PM. Mr. Roberts passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at home in Tyler, Texas. He was born March 30, 1933, in Naples, Texas to Lester M. Roberts and Hallie A. Roberts. Therman was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He was an avid tennis player and sports enthusiast. Therman was a member of Faulkner Tennis Center. His passion for tennis began at the age of 14 and brought him great joy and camaraderie throughout the years. Therman graduated from Hooks High School and was a graduate of North Texas State University. He also served honorably in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 30 years of service. Therman will be remembered for his kindness, devotion, and the legacy of his love for the game of tennis. All who had the privilege of knowing him will deeply miss his presence. Therman is survived by his wife, of 8 years, Pat Roberts of Tyler; son, William Keith Roberts and wife Debbie of Bullard, Texas; stepdaughter, Sandra Kelly of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jennifer Dodd and husband Brent of Bullard, Joni Roberts of Tyler, William Roberts and wife Rosalia of Bullard; great-grandchildren: Cayden Dodd, Evan Roberts, Riley Roberts, Carson Dodd of Bullard, Christopher Fritch of Tyler; brother, Lonzo Roberts and wife Jodelle of Dallas; and his dog Sadie. Therman was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Barbara Roberts; his father, Lester Roberts, and mother, Hallie Roberts; his sister, Iva Lee Abercrombie; and his beloved dogs, Stink and Snoopy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of East Texas for their loving care during this time. The family expresses sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences during this difficult time. “May his spirit of resilience and love for sports live on in our hearts, guiding us as a lasting tribute to his memory.”
