Veta Beal

Services for Veta Beal, 99, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerry Giles officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Veta passed away December 24, 2013, having lived ninety-nine years, eleven months and ten days. She was born January 14, 1914 in Anadarko, OK to William H. and Annie Jane Masterson, their sixth child, all of whom predeceased her. In her early twenties Veta married Walter Lewis and relocated with him to East Texas. Veta had many special memories of this time of her life. Several years following Walter’s untimely death, Veta married Cleve Beal. Cleve’s daughter, Diane Goodloe and her family were especially close to Veta. Following Cleve’s death, she made a life for herself in Tyler. She was an active member of Marvin United Methodist Church and a member of the Century Sunday School Class. All of Veta’s friends became her extended family. She was also very close to her niece Jean Cherry and Jean’s husband Tom, along with Jean and Tom’s children. They added much joy to her life. She shared wonderful trips with all of them over the years. Travel, in fact, became one of her favorite pastimes. Veta would tell everyone, “I am always set on go”. When the “Grownups” was organized at Marvin Church, she was a charter member. She especially look forward to their trips and missed very few of them. Extended bus tours, the longer the better, were among her favorites. Veta lived her life with an incredible positive attitude and outstanding character. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by nieces, Jean Cherry, Annie Bell Pendergrass, Retta Garza, Jessie Ann Koenig, and Dorothy Patrick and their families. She is also survived by step-daughters, Diana Goodloe and family and Martha Beal Black. In addition, Veta is survived by her extended family of dear friends that have shared their heartfelt love for her through the years.
