Virginia "Sue" Easley Calhoun

Memorial services for Sue Easley Calhoun, 82, of Tyler will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 7, 2015 in Herd Auditorium at Marvin United Methodist Church with Reverend Alison Zbicz Michael, her loving granddaughter, and Reverend Doug Baker officiating. There will be a private family burial at Rose Hill Cemetery preceding the service. Sue joined the Lord Sunday, August 2, 2015 in Tyler exactly one year since the passing of the love of her life, Galloway Calhoun Jr. on the first Sunday morning in August of 2014. They were married 62 years. Sue graduated from South San Antonio High School in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she met Galloway. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She remained a devoted Longhorn fan and never missed a televised game, even when she had to call her friends and family to find out “what channel?!” She was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church and the Friendly Bible Sunday School class. She volunteered her time to the Tyler Community in many ways. She was a member of the Junior League of Tyler and the Gertrude Windsor Garden Club. She owned a successful business for many years, Table Tops, with the most beautiful custom and specialty table cloths for many weddings and parties all over the state of Texas. She was passionate about cooking and trying new recipes. She cooked out of love and was always taking wonderful edible gifts to people for occasions whether happy or sad. “Oh Mom” or “Mom Oh” as she was commonly called at home, loved her family and many friends and they loved her!! Her beautiful smile with her special dimples will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galloway Calhoun, Jr., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Easley, and her only brother, William Easley. She is survived by her children, Dorothy Calhoun Zbicz and husband Kerry, Susan Calhoun Mathis, Galloway Calhoun III and wife Suzanne and Waterson Calhoun and wife Shelley, sister-in-law Reah Easley and the R.L. Bobbitt family of San Antonio, Calhoun, Lynn, John and wife Karen, and their children. Grandchildren are Alison Zbicz Michael and husband Mark, Sarah Mathis, Tyler Mathis, Annie Mathis, Charley Calhoun, Torie Calhoun, Will Calhoun, Jack Calhoun, Grey Calhoun and her two precious great-grandchildren, Phillip and Peter Michael. The family would like to give special thanks to Betty Cuba who has been a part of our family for many years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to PATH, 402 W.
