Warren Cooper (Shorty) Burt

Warren Cooper (Shorty) Burt was born December 19, 1934, to the parents of Telbert Ernest and Carrie Elizabeth Burt in Appleby, Texas, and grew up in the Garrison area. He went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2022, at the age of 87, surrounded by his family at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 2:00-3:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler, with the service immediately following at 3:00 PM with Dr. Dewey Davidson officiating. He especially loved little ones and many tractor-bucket rides have taken place over the years. All who knew him, knew his love language was acts of service. He was always looking for ways to serve those around him; lending a hand, repairing what needed fixed, or pulling up alongside to make the job easier. He taught his family well, by example, how to see and meet the needs of others. He worked hard, kept busy, and stayed active his entire life. He was witty and loved to laugh - always teasing. He loved the beauty of God’s nature and enjoyed planting, growing, and nurturing, extending that to his family by giving them the opportunity to enjoy nature together through camping, boating, and fishing. Shorty worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad when he met and married his bride Barbara in Victoria, Texas. They soon moved to Houston where he learned to repair electric motors. After a couple of moves to Lufkin and Center, they landed in Tyler and opened his own electric motor repair business. After retirement, he was kept busy working on their home and land in Lindale. Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mildred and Alene, and brother Billy. Shorty is survived by wife Barbara; children Jeanne and King, Terry and Don, Stacy and Irma, Tracy and Paula; grandchildren Shafen and Katy, Miranda, Michael, Jennifer and Peter, Kayla and Brian, Taylor and Brittni, Steven and Sheila, Randy and Bri, and David; great grandchildren Cooper, Landon, Hudson, Weston, Cason, and Everleigh. A family graveside service will be held at Libby Cemetery, June 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM for anyone wanting to come.
