Services for Wayne Walker McKenzie, 70, of Arp, will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Reggie Day and Jack Hollenshead officiating. Graveside services will be at Prairie Valley Cemetery in Campbell on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Wayne Walker McKenzie entered into eternal peace on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his home in Arp. Wayne was born on November 1, 1943 in Homer, Louisiana, the 12th child of the late Eunice Earl and Delia Walker McKenzie. He married Anita Green on September 3, 2001. He graduated from Northwestern State University in 1967 and had sales positions with Dial and Litton companies. He then started his own dental supply company before starting a cabinetry and millwork business for residential homes and commercial offices. For a time after this, Wayne was a truck driver before returning to the dental supply and equipment sales, and began designing and constructing multiple dental offices in the East Texas area. Wayne most recently enjoyed managing his horses and running his hay business before his health no longer allowed. He was a member of the Woods Baptist Church in Tyler for the past 8 years. Wayne was always an optimist and loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, fishing and his animals. For many years while his children were growing up, he had a small place on Toledo Bend Lake and many weekends and many, many hours were spent on the lake with his children fishing for catfish, bass and white perch. Later in life, he and his wife, Anita cared for many stray dogs and cats, giving them a good home. Wayne was always someone who would offer his help to others whenever he could and was always looking out for his neighbors and family. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Anita McKenzie of Arp, his two sons, Calvin McKenzie and wife Freda of Rochester, New York, Jody McKenzie and wife Amy of Dallas; two step-daughters, Roxanna Martin and husband Bobby of Campbell and Renea Powell and husband Jeremy of Greenville; five grandchildren, David McKenzie, Ben McKenzie, Walker McKenzie, Jake McKenzie and Josh McKenzie; six step-grandchildren, Arian Alford, Press Alford, William Powell, Rylee Powell, Coty Martin and Conner Martin. He also leaves behind, a host of nieces and nephews whom he cherished dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Pallbearers will be Wayne’s grandsons, David, Ben, Walker, Jake, Josh, Press, William, Coty and Conner. Visitation is scheduled from6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
