William Wagoner

Services for William Henry Wagoner, 78, of Tyler will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler with Dr. Stuart Baskin, Rev. David O’Neal and Rev. Greg Martin officiating. A private burial will take place at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Wagoner passed away on October 24, 2011 in Tyler. He was born on September 5, 1933 in Cuthand, Texas to Hubert and Rachel Wagoner. Mr. Wagoner was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he taught the Westminster Sunday School Class for many years and served on Session and Diaconate. He was also a Mason. Mr. Wagoner enjoyed serving his community as a volunteer at Camp Gilmont, Meals on Wheels, and the Salvation Army Toy Distribution. He also served on the Board of the Holly Creek Home Owners Association. Mr. Wagoner loved golfing, traveling with his wife, spending time with family, and being Molly and Tim’s PaPa. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by two brothers, H.B. Wagoner and Morris Wagoner. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 54 years, Lynne Wagoner, of Tyler; daughter, Jill Wagoner O’Farrell and husband Steve of Lake Cherokee; grandchildren, Molly O’Farrell of Dallas and Timothy O’Farrell of Lake Cherokee; brother, Jim Wagoner and Wife Marilynn; sisters, Mary Demming of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Holly Wagoner of Knoxville, Tennessee; and special friends, Bill Wood, Sandra and Vernon Stanley and Donna and Keith McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Westminster Sunday School Class, the Men’s Bible Study, and the Early Morning Risers. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. Memorials in honor of Bill Wagoner may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Campaign, 230 W. Rusk, Tyler, Texas 75701 or the Salvation Army, 633 North Broadway, Tyler, Texas 75702.
