Wynne Mae Brown

Wynne Mae Brown was born on April 8, 1914 to James Oliver and Annie Elizabeth Moore of Richland Springs, Texas. She went home to be with her Savior and Lord on December 6, 2015 leaving behind a rich legacy of joy and love. She taught us to be courageous, to have faith, to love and to trust the Lord, to believe in life, and to laugh at ourselves. Her husband, Burns, admired and entrusted her to raise their children to take care of everything concerning the home while he worked in the oil field and drilling business providing for his family. She embraced her responsibilities with the diligence, determination, strength and confidence. Wynne Mae and Burns were among a small group who founded Pollard United Methodist Church. She remained loyal, active and in love with her church and church family for over sixty years. In all the vicissitudes of life, she was strong and courageous. Wynne Mae lived her whole life for this day. Wynne Mae passionately loved her family. Grandchildren had a very place in her heart. They were a source of great delight and the apple of her eye. She loved them unconditionally, enthusiastically, and joined in their childish antics. As the grandchildren grew and matured Wynne Mae always provided a “particular harbour” of security, kindness, protection, peace, and quiet so they could be rejuvenated and revitalized. As she gave them freedom to live their own lives, she rejoiced in their successes. Above all, she provided them endless love, encouragement and support. Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, John Burns Brown, their son, John Oliver, her brothers, Charlie Moore, Arthur Moore, Harvey Moore, Eugene Moore and Milton Moore; her sisters, Laura Annie Saxon, Lucille Gilger and Vivian Christine Moore. She is survived by her beloved children Jan and Jack Brady of Sugar Land, TX, Sandy Brown of Havre, Montana, and David Burns and Jayne Brown of Tyler, TX; grandchildren Jack Burns and Amber Brady, Sarah and Kosta Zujic, John Oliver Brown Jr., Dana Brown and Tyler Bernhardt, Travis Austin Brown, Joan Elizabeth Brown, Jana Marie Brown, and John Burns Brown II; and great grandchildren Alexa Mae, Jackson James, and Caroline Marie Brady, Abigail Mae Brown, Kaiana Lee Bernhardt, and Alexandra Mae Zujic; along with a great number of loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jack Burns Brady, John Brown Jr., Travis Brown, J. Burns Brown II , Kosta Zujic, David Wayne Cochran, and Elliott Jones. Honorary pallbearers are David Lawrence Gilger, John Robert Gilger, George Jones, Thurman Hugh Saxon, Wayne Ferguson, John R. Brown, Robert Evans, Frank Myrick, Dr. David Gass, Dr. Kevin Green, Dr. Bill Brown, Dr. Don Freeman, and Dr. Bill Reed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Wynne Mae’s staff and caregivers for their loving and tender care. We also want to thank her doctors for taking such wonderful care of her through the years. Wynne Mae Brown graduated to Glory peacefully and confidently from her home in Tyler, Texas on December 6, 2015 at the age of 101. Visitation will be held at Stewart Funeral Home Friday, December 11, from 4:00-6:00 pm. A worship service of Thanksgiving and Celebration is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 Copeland Road, with the Reverend Steven Rhoads, the Reverend Ben Bagley, and the Reverend Richard Luna presiding, followed immediately by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Our family legend, Wynne Mae Brown went home to be with her Savior and Lord and to be gathered to her people. Her spirit will live with us forever. For 101 years and 9 months, she inspired everyone she met and filled our hearts with love. She taught us to live with bright colors, dance with every step, laugh till you have tears in your eyes, love with all your heart, take care of each other, play every day, dress up every day, put that jewelry and red lipstick on, cherish your heritage, and love God. She is sparkling is Heaven and dancing with Jesus.
