Betty Lou Westermann

March 28, 1932 - January 16, 2021

Ms. Betty Lou Westermann, age 88, passed away on January 16, 2021. She was born in Elgin, MN on March 28, 1932 to the late Richard Parker and Elna Reiter Parker. Betty grew up on the farm as one of six siblings, having two brothers and three sisters. As a young woman, she started her career in the healthcare field at several local hospitals before marrying Naval Chief Petty Officer, George Westermann, and traveling the world. She experienced many different cultures in Germany, England, Taiwan, and the Florida Keys. After settling down in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, she furthered her education to become a registered medical laboratory technician. She studied hematology, clinical chemistry, and microbiology. She retired from the Mayo Clinic after more than twenty years of service in the Urinalysis lab. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don; sister-in-law, Elaine; and brothers-in-law, Milton, and Larry. She is survived by her loving family and daughter, Kathryn Westermann; grandchildren, Krystal Webb (Nate), Brad Greinert, and Hunter Greinert; sisters, Bonnie Hoenk (Bob), Nadine Siem, and Kaye Willis; and brother, Gordon Dutch Parker (Paula).
