Services for David Charles Jenkins, 80, of Flint, Texas, will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Park Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Loftin Cemetery in Teaselville, Texas, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. David passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 in Tyler. He was born July 22, 1939 in Gallatin, Texas, to Jewel George Jenkins and Jacy Carrie Bufford Jenkins. David was a member of Noonday Baptist Church. He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1957. David was most proud of the time he spent serving our country in the United States Navy. Following his time in the Navy, he had many different occupations, including working for Coca-Cola, the Tyler Police Department, General Electric, Kelly Springfield, Bullard ISD, and later in life he was self-employed as a woodworker. He enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, woodworking and watching football. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jewel and Jacy Jenkins of Rusk, Texas and brother-in-law, Gene Gardiner of Lake Striker, Texas. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of almost 55 years, Lila Ann Early Jenkins; daughter, Nancy Campbell and husband Dan of Flint; son, Andy Jenkins and wife Vicki of Flint; daughter, Tammy Jenkins and fiancé Terry Hudgins of Muscadine, Alabama; son, Karlin Early and wife Cindy of Warrior, Alabama; and daughter, Shelia Palafox of Camdenton, Missouri. PawPaw was loved by many grandchildren, including Tara Jenkins, Dexter Jenkins, John Campbell, Joshua Early, Jason Early, Joseph Early, Nathan Palafox, Chris Torrez and Steven Torrez. David is also survived by his sister, Marge Christian and husband George of Grand Prairie, Texas; sister, Jean Simer and husband Hugh of Morrilton, Arkansas; sister, Betty Gardiner of Nacogdoches, Texas; brother, Johnny Jenkins and wife Carolyn of Fairfield, Texas, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dexter Jenkins, John Campbell, Scott Ray, Karlin Early, Joseph Early and Terry Hudgins. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Jenkins, George Christian, Hugh Simer, Vincent Simpson and Mack Earl Davis. Special thanks to Briarcliff Health Center and Fresenius Kidney Care South East Tyler for their love and care of our Dad during this time of his life. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler, Texas. If desired, memorials may be made in his name to the charity or organization of your choice.
