Dennis James "Jim" Longar

October 27, 1935 - February 20, 2022

Mr. Longar passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 27, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to Henry and Helen Longar. Mr. Longar attended Bethel Baptist Church in Tyler. He graduated from Ritneur High School in St. Louis. He attended college at Washington University in St. Louis. He served in active duty in the US Navy for 5 years. He held the position of project engineer at Monsanto Company, where he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen Longar. He is survived by his loving family including, his wife of 65 years, Joanne Patricia “Pat” Longar; sons, Keith Longar; Jeffrey Longar and his wife, Beth; daughter, Kathleen Ratto and her husband, Jim; son, Jonathon Longar and his wife, LiLiya; his brother, Kenneth Longar and his wife, Jo; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Longar, Ray Dyke, Jim Ratto and Roger Conaway. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Jacksonville, TX 75703.
