Services for James Bruce Grotts, 86, of Tyler, Texas (formally of Dallas, Texas) will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas with Rev. Scott Wiley officiating. James Grotts passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Tyler, TX. He was born December 22, 1935 in Bradford, Arkansas to Oren Benjamin Grotts and Jacqueline Frizzell Grotts. James was a member of the Church of Christ. He graduated from North Texas State University with a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Before his retirement, he held the position of Director of Counseling with the Agape Counseling Center in Flint Township, Michigan. He spent his life in the service of others as a psychologist and minister. James is survived by his loving family including his wife of 64 years, Lou Grotts; son Oren Bruce Grotts and daughter-in-law April Nelson; daughter Raelene Grotts and son-in-law Kevin Craig; grandchildren Amanda Ponte, Nathan Palmatier (wife Jennifer Palmatier), and Lacy Craig; great grandchildren Riley, Jameson, Camden and Harper (Ponte), Sawyer and Emmy (Palmatier); sister, Rowena (Grotts) Eldridge; sister, Barbara (Grotts) Sullivan and husband Rick Sullivan; brother Harold Grotts and wife Ginger Grotts. James was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jo Marie Wiley and his brothers, Benjamin Jack Grotts and Gary Lee Grotts.
