Services for James T. Stewart, 71, Flint, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 21, 2006 at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lou Thomas officiating. Graveside services will follow at Cathedral In The Pines Cemetery under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Stewart passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2006 in Tyler after a four year illness. He was born to the late Henry and Florence Edger Stewart on September 21, 1934 in Hemphill, Texas. He was born and raised in Hemphill, Texas and attended Hemphill High School. In 1953, he moved to Beaumont, Texas and worked for Rainbo Bread Company and married the love of his life, Shirley Scarborough on February 24, 1956. Mr. Stewart moved his family to Tyler in 1967 and began work for General Electric which later became Trane, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Lanes Chapel United Methodist Church in Tyler. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching old westerns on TV. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and had numerous family and friends who loved him. He was preceded in death by parents Henry and Florence Stewart. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley Stewart of Flint; sons, Mike Stewart and wife, Martha of Tyler; Gary Stewart and wife, Laquita of Tyler; and Keith Stewart and wife, Danelle of Tyler; brother, Eldon Stewart and wife, Betty of Beaumont; nine grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Megan, Amy, Matt, Dillon, Devon, Brittany and Nick (and his mother, Brenda); and one great-grandchild, Zachary. Pallbearers are Michael Stewart, Matt Stewart, Nick Monk, Darrin Bledsoe, Kevin Bledsoe, Brent Primrose, Randy Permenter, Charlie Scarborough, and Ben Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers are Dillon Lee Stewart, Devon James Stewart, and Zachary Thomas Stewart. Special thanks to Dr. Terry Woodard, Dr. Molly Bankhead and the Renal Center of Tyler. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., Tyler, 75703.
