J.D. Nantz

Services for J.D. Nantz, Jr, 85, of Tyler,will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Darryle Dunks officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Nantz passed away December 6, 2012 in Tyler. He was born September 11, 1927 in Wichita Falls to John David, Sr and Edith Stanton Nantz. J.D. was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the GABC Volunteer Builders. J.D. was a principle in Chapel Hill school district, as well as a teacher in Whitehouse, Chandler and TISD. He enjoyed spending time woodworking and doing yard work. The thrill of four wheeling on the mountain trails, Colorado, and family reunions were loves of J.D.’s. He served in the US Navy during WWII during the Pacific Campaign. J.D. also worked for Humble Oil Company as a draftsman. J.D. was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his loving family including his wife Janey Nantz; children, Debra McKinley and husband Ken of Hideaway, Rebecca Janotti and husband Ralph of Sarasota, Fl., Cindy Landrum and husband Rick of Tyler; step-children, Deborah Summerlin of Sugar Land, Becky Hanne and husband Gary of Sugar Land, and Rob Summerlin of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Kristina Boer of California, Joshua McKinley of Lindale, Michael Janotti of Florida, Alicia Mullins of Tyler, Holly Carr of Connecticut and Chris Landrum of Tyler; Great-grandchildren, Katie Wyatt and Kyle Wyatt of California, Paytyn Carr and Talan Gooden of Connecticut, Chloe Mullins of Tyler, and Andrew Hanne of Sugar Land, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Wade Mullins, Chris Landrum, Joshua McKinley, Rob Summerlin, Michael Janotti, Andrew Hanne and Gary Hanne. Honorary pallbearers will be Virble Trotter, James Dowell, David Dowell, Jerry Nantz, Mike McCartney, Wayne Wendell, Tim Roberts, Dylan Steaples, Jeff Propes, Cole Huntzinger and Members of John Childs Sunday School class. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 –7:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to GABC Mission Program or GABC Volunteer Christian Builders.
