Larry Price Simmons

December 14, 1948 - March 20, 2022

A Celebration of Life for Larry Price Simmons, 73, of Tyler will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Pike Wisner officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Simmons passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at his home in Tyler. He was the first of thirteen grandchildren on his mother’s side to enter heaven’s glory. Larry courageously fought his battle with a rare cutaneous lymphoma for eight years-the last few years being so very difficult. He demonstrated tremendous patience and perseverance-as did Becky-traveling back and forth to MD Anderson in Houston for treatment for six years. Their faith never wavered. Larry was born December 14, 1948 in Houston to Andrew Van and Mary Ruth Price Simmons. Larry was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He graduated from Henderson High School class of 1967, and The University of Texas at Austin in 1971. He held the position of Director of Reimbursement with Trinity Mother Frances Hospital System in Tyler for 19 years. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Van and Mary Ruth Simmons. He is survived by his loving family including: Rebecca Ann (LeBlanc) Simmons-Becky, his wife of 47 years, daughter, Jenny (son-in-law, Mark) and grandchildren, Julia, Rebecca and David Ackerman and daughter, Ginger (son-in- law, Paul) Peterson, brothers, Warren Simmons and Don Simmons (sister-in-law, Larkin Simmons) and 10 nephews and nieces. Our Larry faithfully loved his family-he was a devoted husband to Becky, Dad to Jenny and Ginger and GDaddy to Julia, Becca and David. He was an avid bass fisherman and duck hunter for fifty years. Some of his happiest times were spent outdoors in God’s creation-on Lake Tyler, Lake Palestine, Kickapoo Creek and LaBelle Marsh in Southeast Texas. He shared this love with his daughters, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and many friends and family members. Pallbearers will be David Simmons, Drew Simmons, Price Simmons, Preston Simmons, Teddy Triantafillis and Cecil Sick. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00-2:00 pm on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
