Services for Marvin Delbert Pate, 80, of Tyler, TX will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Tyler Tabernacle with Rev. Mike Littlefield and Rev. Sammy Draper officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler, TX under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Pate passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Tyler, TX. He was born November 28, 1941 in Weslaco, TX to J.D. Pate and Juanita Kinsel Pate. Marvin was a member of Tyler Tabernacle. He served in the United States Navy and worked in sales most of his career. He was most known by his friends and family for his sense of humor and ability to tell tall tales. He was a loving husband, proud dad and pappy, and gained the nickname “the unicorn” because he was often talked about but seldom seen. Marvin was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Pate. He is survived by his loving family including his mother Juanita, his wife of 51 years, Sharlotte, daughter Becky Pate, daughter Dawn Yancy and husband Simon, and son Chris Pate and wife Telena. Grandchildren Alyssa Long and husband Madison, Brayden Yancy, Alexis Pate, Cade Yancy, Kendon Pate, Rylee Yancy, Kinsley Pate and Ayden Pate; brothers Bennie Pate and wife Debbie, James Pate and wife Allyson; sisters Leta Edwards, Debbie Simmons and husband Robert, and Joyce Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews Benjamin Pate and Greg Dowdy, grandsons Brayden Yancy, Cade Yancy, Kendon Pate and Madison Long, and friend Ricky Eckenrod. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Tyler Tabernacle, 3115 E. Fifth Street, in Tyler.
