Philip George Marsh

June 8, 1938 - November 24, 2021

A Celebration of Life for Philip George Marsh, 83, of Hideaway will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Hideaway Lake Clubhouse. Mr. Marsh passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Tyler. He was born June 8, 1938, in Bridgeport, West Virginia to Charles Marsh, Sr. and Nina Stallman Marsh. Philip was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Phil, as he was known to all who loved him, served his country in the US Air Force for eight years, where he was a star basketball player. Phil led a long, interesting life! He was a project manager for Fujitsu in the early days of fiber optic communications. This job took him all over Europe. While with Fujitsu, Phil ran a 340-mile fiber optic link through swamps and rugged terrain, linking New Orleans, LA with Houston, TX. Phil eventually “retired” to Texas at the age of 62, where he met the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Sharon. Phil never truly retired, as he lived to work! Phil became a courier in his golden years, running routes all over East Texas and from his home in Tyler, to Dallas. Phil was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Phil will be remembered for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was loving, funny, stubborn, determined, caring, and full of life! To know Phil was to love him. Phil will be forever loved and his memory, forever cherished! Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Nina Stallman Marsh, sister Judy, and brother Alfred. He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Sharon Ray Marsh; his son, Jay Marsh and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Cassie and Tyler Marsh; two brothers, Charles “Chuck”, Jr., and Ernie; one sister, Linda; stepson, Steven Lindgren and wife, Loretta; stepson Jimmy Durmon and partner, Jonathan Ammons; step-grandchildren, Jonathon Lindgren, Kristin Sorensen, and Charlie Durmon; great-grandson, Levi Lindgren; son-in-law, Tony Durmon, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
