August 23, 1915 - June 26, 2020
Rose Cecelia Krieger Cleaveland passed away June 26, 2020 in Tyler. She was born August 23, 1915 in Portland OR. Rose and George were married on November 3, 1933 in Idaho Falls, ID. They worked on a cattle ranch in Montana until 1935 when the whole Cleaveland family moved to Seattle, WA. During World War II, Rose was a Lieutenant Air Raid Warden, Women’s Auxiliary, in Seattle. Rose was a long-time member of West Seattle Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess, was in the Women’s Missionary Group and taught VBS when Alice was little. She and George also served at Normandy Christian Church in Normandy Park (a suburb of Seattle) for many years. In April of 2000, Rose, along with Alice and Ray moved to Whitehouse, Texas. They visited First Baptist Church of Whitehouse, and never left. Rose loved the Widow/Deacon Banquets and made many friends in her 20 years there. The highlights of Rose’s life were her relationship with Jesus Christ and her family – ALL of them. But a special place in her heart for her grandson Andrew, and her two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Clara. In hope of that immortal crown, I now the cross sustain, And gladly wander up and down, And smile at toil and pain. I suffer out my three score years Till my deliverer come, And wipe away His servant’s tears, And take His exile home. Charles Wesley Rose was preceded in death by husband, George Francis Cleaveland; her parents, John Krieger and Susan Miller Krieger; stepmother, Margaret Bauer Stremel Krieger; siblings, Mary Ann Krieger Ball Clark, John Krieger, Josephine Krieger, Peter Krieger Miller, Alex Stremel, Mary Ann Stremel Brown, John Stremel, Ann Krieger McAtee, Val Krieger and Joe Krieger; and son-in-law, Ray Calvin Kissel. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Cleaveland Kissel; grandson, Andrew C. Kissel and wife Emily Kate; great-granddaughters, Olivia Gray Kissel and Clara Lane Kissel; brother, Pete Krieger and wife Janiece of Idaho Falls, ID; and many nieces and nephews. If desired, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Whitehouse, 801 E. Main, Whitehouse, TX 75791 or Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
