Benjamin Rushing

Services for Benjamin Harold Rushing, 83, of Tyler, will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Beard officiating. Burial will follow at Noonday Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Rushing passed away on March 18, 2010 at ETMC in Tyler. He was born April 4, 1926 in Noonday, Texas to William and Susie E. Hill Rushing Benjamin graduated from Tyler High School. He attended Tyler Business College and Tyler Junior College. Benjamin served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 and then worked for the railroad retiring after 39 years of service. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. There is also a WWII Memorial with his name that is in his home town along Rushing Road in Noonday which is named after the family. Mr. Rushing liked to play golf, play “42” with his friends and he enjoyed other activities at the church. He also loved his collection of train memorabilia. Mr. Rushing was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Floritta Rushing Dubose; brother, Joseph Gerald Rushing; and sister, Juanita Rushing. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 62 years, Viola Florine Ginn Rushing; daughters, Diann Rushing Neill and husband Bob of Valley Village, CA and Tania Rushing Bailey and husband Bobby of Plano; sister, Jane James and husband Robert of Whitehouse; and grandchildren, Cory Alan Neill and wife Holly, Kimberly Diann Neill Louzan and husband Pete, Justin Ray Bailey, Colin Benjamin Bailey and Angelica Rose Bailey. Pallbearers will be Randall Grooms, Venus Brooks, Roland Saunders, Virbel Trotter, Lynn Lister, Jack Quisenberry, Joe Efurd and Frank Prater. Honorary pallbearers will be John Childs, Cory Neill, Scott James, Lester Sulser, Douglas Harris, Alan Harris, Virgil Bowles and Ed Williams. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.
