Services for Buddie Lee Perkins, 83 of Tyler, Texas will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 1:30 PM in the chapel of Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Don F. Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Memorial Park under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home Mr. Perkins passed away on February 1, 2009 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. He was born December 2, 1925 in Anahuac, Texas to the late Floyd Marian Sr. and Sarah Emma Minnie Perkins. He attended Tyler Junior College. Mr. Perkins was a Boatswain Mate 1st Class in the United States Navy. He served in WWII and earned the WWII Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon 4 Stars. Mr. Perkins also served as a Merchant Marine Officer after WWII and served on the Flagship of the Pacific, USS Pennsylvania and the USS Calamares. He was a member of the Shriners, Masons, American Legion and Elks Club. He was a Sales Manager for The Borden Company for 36 years and had the accomplishment of driving one million miles without an accident. In their spare time, he and his wife, Elcie, enjoyed their travels all over the world but also loved being at home in Tyler. In addition to his parents, Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his second wife and mother of his children, Willie Dean (Dena) Perkins and wife of 33 years, Elcie Mae Perkins, one brother and two sisters and grand-daughter Sunny Lynn Perkins. Mr. Perkins is survived by his loving family including children, Floyd “Skip” Perkins and wife Bonnie of Seaside, California, Harriett Perkins Lane and husband Marshall of Tyler, Texas, Lee Perkins and wife Becky of Tyler, Texas, Charlotte Perkins of Redfield, Arkansas, Sarah Perkins of Chandler, Texas; brother Rev. Don F. Perkins and wife Diane of Baker, Louisiana; step-children include John Precour and wife Debbie of DeSoto, and Sandra Ebbs and husband Jack of Flint; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brandon Perkins, John David Precour, Jim Acker, Kevin Burgess, and Christian Nicolas. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Perkins, Marshall Lane, John Precour, Jack Ebbs, Clifton Dillard and John Acker. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, inTyler. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mother Frances Hospital and the Hospice of East Texas for their compassionate care during Mr. Perkins’ illness.
