Douglas "Doug" Kinsey

Douglas Lee “Doug” Kinsey, age 76, of Tyler, Texas was called to heaven on January 21, 2010 from his earthly home. Doug was born on June 8, 1933 in Bellevue, TX to Robert Wesley and Mary Francis Vaughn Kinsey. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Alexandria, LA where he met the love of his life, Margaret Faye Zachary. They were married on April 3, 1952 and have spent the last 57 years together. They remained in Alexandria until their children married and moved to Texas. Doug was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner and a member of the Oliver Lodge in Alexandria Doug retired from the City of Alexandria in 1986 after 33 years of service; he was the Assistant Superintendent for the Light Distribution Department. Doug valiantly fought heart disease since 1988 and was happy each day. To all of us remaining here, he is our forever Hero. He gave so much of himself to everyone who knew and needed him Those awaiting him in heaven are his beloved first born son, Douglas Lee Kinsey, Jr.; his mother and father; his two brothers, Robert Loyd Kinsey (Pete) and James Michael Kinsey (Mike); his sister, Hattie Lucille Kinsey Raley (Lou); his mother and father-in-law, Garrett Curtis Zachary and Edna Irene Bridges Zachary; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Zachary Jones. Those that are left here to join him one day are his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret Kinsey, of Tyler, TX; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Ginger Kinsey, their children, Mary Kinsey and Douglas Kinsey of Tyler, TX; his daughter Kelly Harrison and her sons, Zachary Gutweiler and Ross Gutweiler of Round Rock, TX, and United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Wesley and Kristen Gutweiler of San Diego, CA; his sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Richard Smith of Monahans, TX, his brother and sister -in-law Ronnie and Charlotte Kinsey of Buffalo Springs, TX; sisters-in-law, Edna Hudson of Hattiesburg, MS and Cora Zachary of Newcastle, CO; and brother-in-law William Zachary and wife Grace Zachary, of Alexandria, LA; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly along with many, many friends. Services will be held at Hixson Brother Funeral Home in Alexandria, LA., at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 24, 2010, with Dr. Joe Kite officiating. Pallbearers will be, Brian Bossier, Noel Rusk, Richard Moriarty, Robert Despino, Clyde Reed, and John Horn. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Oliver Lodge. Burial will be at Alexandria Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 701 Jackson, Alexandria, LA, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.
