Gary Todd Baty

Gary Todd Baty was born February 27, 1962, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Lee Roy and Bettye Todd Baty. He passed away July 10, 2026 in Frisco, Texas. Gary grew up in Deer Park, Texas, where he gave his heart to Christ at age ten and was baptized at First Baptist Church in 1972. Gary attended Deer Park schools, graduating from Deer Park High School in 1981. He attended The College of the Mainland where he made the Dean’s List and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, an honorary organization designed to recognize academic excellence. After Gary received his Associate Degree in Graphic Arts, he was employed as a Graphic Artist by the Deer Park Independent School District. After a tenure of over fifteen years with the school district, Gary moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was employed by Carrabbas Restaurant for the next several years. In early 2000’s, Gary returned to Texas to help open a new Carrabbas in Grapevine. Later, Gary served as Lead Concierge at Museum Towers in downtown Dallas for ten years. Presently, Gary was employed by the Silos at Celina, a dinner restaurant. In addition to his work life, Gary took time to keep in close touch with the many friends he made in the Houston, Albuquerque, and Dallas areas, as well as be attentive to his parents and extended family members. Gary spent many hours working to clear and beautify the Historic Smith Cemetery where his family is buried and where he himself will be buried. He remembered everyone’s birthday, was always sending funny cards and texts, never met a stranger, and won the reputation of being a bright light to those who knew him. Gary loved flowers and had a bumper crop of morning glories and petunias each year. He was a great cook and knew how to be “the host with the most.” Gary was predeceased by his father, Lee Roy Baty, in 2011. He leaves his mother Bettye Baty, older brother David Baty and wife Patti of Richardson, Texas, sister Donna Baty Veenendaal and husband Alan of Tyler, Texas, five nieces and nephews, nine great-nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rose Lawn Cemetery with the purpose/memo of “Historic Smith Cemetery” and those funds will be used by the cemetery for the historic area where Gary is to be buried, and where he has spent many hours working over the years.
