Howard Moore,

Howard E. Moore, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Maker on June 25, 2008 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Services for Howard will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Stuart Baskin and Rev. Bradley Moore officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Restland Cemetery in Dallas under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Howard was born November 20, 1933 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1952 and joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Hancock in the South Pacific. After being discharged from the Navy, he joined the Federal Bureau of Prisons in the position of Chief Correctional Supervisor. This career spanned 26 years with retirement in 1984. At that time he relocated to Dallas, Texas and was employed with Trammel Crow Co as Senior Security Supervisor until retirement in 1997. Howard was a Master Mason and a member of Scottish Rite for over 25 years. Howard was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tyler, Texas. He very much enjoyed the fellowship of the men of the church at Tuesday morning Bible study and other activities. Howard had two marriages, the first to JoAnn (Elliott) Moore, ending in her death in 1992. He then married Joreen (Leamon) Moore. Howard leaves behind Joreen Moore, wife of 14 years; four children, Lt. Comd (Ret) Howard E. Moore III, Melinda Ann Moore, Randall Elliott Moore, and Lori Susan Moore O’Neill; five step-children, Donna Jo Lovett, Daniel Wayne Leamon, Darla Renee Adams, Dana Kaye Riley, and Deanna Jean Luchak; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, Roy Edwin Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard E. Moore, Sr. and June Moore, and brother, Guy Anson Moore. Howard said, “The support of his family and church has been the saving grace of this long and trying journey.” Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
