Jane M. Cox

A graveside service for Jane McCormack Cox, 82, of Tyler, will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013, at 10:30 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Marshall with Dr. Wallace Watkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Cox passed away peacefully on July 2, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held at the Fairfield Inn in Marshall following the graveside service. She was born on October 21, 1930 in Long Branch to the late Joe and Cora McCormack. She is also preceded in death by three sisters, Jo Lloyd, Faye Starkey and Ruth McCormack. Jane graduated high school in Marshall in 1948 and also attended Tyler Junior College. On February 6, 1949, she married the love of her life, Floyd Lee Cox “Sonny” and they were married for 55 loving years until his passing. Jane worked in the banking industry and retired as a Vice President of Bank of America in Tyler. She belonged to Colonial Hills Baptist Church and the Harvesters Sunday School where she found great happiness in worshipping our Lord and the fellowship and support of the other members. Jane was blessed by and enjoyed her family, friends and neighbors. She is survived by her children, David Cox, Mark Cox, and Cindy Cox Gorman; grandchildren, Chris Cox, Jeremy Cox, Andrew Cox, Cristin Hayes, Russell Gorman, Katelyn Cox, Kimberly Cox, Kyle Cox ( and their spouses and friends); and by eight great-grandchildren. Jane is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elsie Alldredge along with many nieces and nephews, their spouses, children and great-grandchildren. Her life was blessed by many special extended family members whom all fulfilled her life with joy and earned her the beloved special name of “Granny”. A special thanks to the healthcare facilities, care givers, residents, families and friends whom helped with Jane’s care during her illness. She received much love, comfort, joy and excellent care during her last days.
