Jill Ann O'Farrell

Services for Jill Ann Wagoner O’Farrell, 64, of Tyler, will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Stuart Baskin and Rev. Greg Martin officiating. A reception in the church Fellowship Hall will immediately follow the memorial service. Jill passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Tyler. She was born July 25, 1962, in Arlington, Texas, to William "Bill" Wagoner and Martha Lynne Ford Wagoner. After spending her early childhood in Arlington, her family moved to Tyler in 1975. Jill attended Robert E. Lee High School, graduating in 1980. A few years later, while out with friends, she met the love of her life, Steven O’Farrell. Steve proposed in 1983, and the couple married on January 6, 1984, at her parents’ home in Grand Prairie. Together, they built a life full of devotion, sharing 42 wonderful years of marriage through all of life’s highs and lows. A dedicated librarian, Jill spent her career sharing her passion for books and storytelling with countless students and community members. Her journey began at the Dallas Public Library while attending the University of North Texas. After moving to Longview in 1989 to start a family with Steve, she completed her bachelor's degree at The University of Texas at Tyler and later earned a master’s degree in education from Lamar University. Over her career, Jill touched many lives working for Tatum ISD as both the primary and high school librarian, as well as Tyler ISD, serving at Stewart Elementary and later opening Three Lakes Middle School. She retired from education in 2021. In retirement, Jill cherished time spent with her family, especially as Gigi to her two beloved grandsons, Elliott and Jake, who brought her endless happiness even amidst the joyful chaos. Jill was a loyal friend who loved a good time. She treasured evenings on the patio or around a fire pit, talking about books, family, and life with those she loved. Her ultimate "happy place" was the beach, where she loved digging her toes in the sand and listening to the ocean. As an only child, Jill held a deep, lifelong love for her parents and cherished memories of childhood family vacations. Her daddy passed down his love of sports, making her an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Jill was preceded in death by her father, Bill Wagoner. She is survived by her loving family, including her mother, Lynne Wagoner; her devoted husband, Steve O’Farrell; her children, son Tim O’Farrell and daughter Molly Rawlins alongside son-in-law Jonathan Rawlins; and her precious grandchildren, Elliott and Jake. In lieu of flowers, donations to an organization of your choice would make Jill happy, but her family suggests considering the Tyler Public Library.
