Joe T. Elliott Jr.

Joe Elliott, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. He was born on November 11, 1942, in Tyler, Texas, to Joe Elliott, Sr. and Florine Elliott. Joe graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1960, then attended Tyler Junior College from 1960-1962 before continuing his education at the University of North Texas, where he graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Joe began his career at Southside Bank in 1964, working his way from teller to Executive Vice President over 17 years. In 1981, he became President of City National Bank in Kilgore, where he served until 1986. Following his banking career, Joe transitioned to Northwestern Mutual Insurance, later working in media advertising, serving as New Car Manager at Peters Chevrolet, and ultimately finishing his career back in media advertising. A lifelong passion of Joe’s was golf. He was a proud member of Hollytree Country Club for more than 40 years, where he won countless tournaments and made many lasting friendships. Throughout his career and personal life, Joe devoted much of his time to serving his community. His many accomplishments included: President, East Texas Saddle Club President, East Texas Horse Show Association Member, Shriners Lifetime Member (6 times), Tyler Chamber of Commerce President, United Way of Kilgore Recipient, United Way Golden Award Member, Kilgore Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Award, Texas Manufacturers Association (1987) Recipient, Ramondo Mascorro Sportsman Award (1983) President, Kilgore Community Concert Association (1985-1987) Recipient, W.C. Windsor Award (1978) President, Patriot Golf Tournament (2009) Of all Joe’s many accomplishments, his greatest passion and pride were his family and friends. He deeply treasured each of us and demonstrated his love every day through his positivity and generous spirit. He was a mentor, a role model, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true friend to so many. Joe will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of kindness, leadership, and love will live on in all who knew him.
