Memorial services and celebratory "birthday party" will be held for Justin Taylor "Doc" Pinkerton at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Friendly Baptist Church, 1903 E. Front Street in Tyler with Brother Dale Perry presiding. Surrounded by the love and gratitude of his family, "Doc" made the transition into his new life on May 1, 2005. Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in a private family celebration preceding the services under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Doc's remarkable life began on May 26, 1921 in Tyler, Texas when he was born to P. C. and Elizabeth Pinkerton. A 1943 graduate of Texas A & M University's School of Veterinary Medicine, he had a veterinarian practice for over 25 years and continually developed and enjoyed many passions including farming, growing peaches and raising roses. A strong believer in service to others, Doc served on the Tyler School Board, was the current mayor of Chapel Hill and was involved in numerous church activities throughout his life. Family was a priority to Doc and Jean, his bride of 61 years, as they created a home where the door was always open and the love and acceptance unlimited. God was his constant Partner and directed him in living a Christian life of integrity, honesty, joy, generosity, and love. Doc's life is his message. His family remaining to celebrate his life and love and carry on his teachings include his wife of 61 years, Jean Waller Pinkerton; daughter, Sherry Lynn Pinkerton of Houston; sons, J. Cris Pinkerton and wife, Janet, of Tyler and Jeffrey William Pinkerton and wife, Connie Mims, of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Jason Coulter Pinkerton and wife, Roxi of Tyler, Bonnie Renee Pinkerton of Tyler, Nick DiRaddo and Adrienne DiRaddo both of The Woodlands; great-granddaughter, Kara Mae Pinkerton of Tyler. Doc?s family extends deep gratitude to his doctors and to the extraordinary staff of Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and ContinueCare for sharing their expertise, love, tenderness, respect and humor with Doc and Jeanie during the past several months. Family and friends are invited to a time of sharing and visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 3 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy., south Tyler, 75703.
