LaRoma Kuhre

Funeral services for LaRoma Lysaine Zundel Kuhre, 92, of Tyler are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1617 Shiloh Road, Tyler. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 in Tyler. She lived in Houston for 17 years and spent the remaining 22 years of her life in Tyler. Roma was born on January 7, 1918, in Bisbee, Arizona to Moses and Karolina Zundel. She grew up in Richmond, California and graduated from San Francisco State College in 1940 with a B.A. in Education. She also attended the University of California at Berkeley and taught kindergarten and first grade in El Cerrito, California for many years. Roma was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as organist, pianist, chorister, Sunday School teacher and was a faithful visiting teacher in the Relief Society. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed gardening, music, needlework, baking and spending time with family. Roma had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ and taught her children to always carry a prayer in their hearts. She was generous and thought of others before herself. Roma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Calvin Jeremy Kuhre and her sisters, Armada Zundel, Elizabeth Thorsen, Ada Knight, and Ida Klingman. Roma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in being surrounded by her family. She is survived by her sons, David Kuhre of Irving, John Kuhre and wife, Phyllis of Southlake and her daughters, Karen Kuhre Nielsen and husband, Evan of Flint and Kathy Kuhre Miller and husband, Gary of Porterville, California; her grandchildren, Erik Kuhre, Gary Miller, Christopher Nielsen, Kristal Moberly, Katharine Terry, Jeremy Kuhre, Martin Miller, Brandon Kuhre, Michael Miller, Karolina Miller: and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Moberly, Max Nielsen, Caden Moberly, Cooper Nielsen and Avery Miller. Visitation will be at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler from 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Memorial gifts may be made to the Tyler First Ward Missionary Fund in care of Bishop Brad Hyland.
