Lois Gibson

A graveside service for Lois Juanita Gibson, 95, of Richardson, will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Rev. Rob Fisher, Rev. Enid Shepard and Rev. Stephanie Scott officiating. A visitation will be at 2:00 PM, one hour prior at Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy. Mrs. Gibson passed away, Thursday, September 22, 2011 in Richardson. She was born October 20, 1916 to the late Brooks and Etta Brown of Lindale. She was a long time resident of Hooks where she was a charter member of the Hooks United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gibson served twice as President of the United Methodist Women’s Organization in the church. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing with others of her community when needs arose. Mrs. Gibson was employed by Belk Jones Department Store and became department head of women’s wear. She later worked for a private employment agency in Texarkana for several years. In 1999, she and her husband moved to Tyler to be closer to their family. She resided in Richardson since 2008 where she enjoyed her stay at Appletree Court Assisted Living. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William J. Gibson, a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas B. and Doris M. Brown of New Boston, and brother, Herbert Brown of New Orleans, LA. She is survived by her loving family including daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Lyndon Stodghill of Richardson, Betty and Paul Hanna and a grandson and wife, Ryan and Shanla Hanna, and a step-great-granddaughter, Chelsea, all of Tyler; sister-in-law, Madonna Abroms of New Orleans, LA; two nephews, Thomas Brown of Aiken SC and Jim and Vicki Brown of Spring, Texas. She is also survived by three great nieces and many friends.
