Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Falkner

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Falkner, 81, of East Texas, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas. Beth was born on August 27, 1944, in Commerce, Texas to Enoch Arvil Sims and Ella Dee Cagel. Most people knew her simply as “Beth”, a woman with a soft heart, a strong backbone, and the determination to stand firm in what she believed. Beth lived a life centered around family, hard work, and caring for others. She earned her cosmetology license and worked as a hairdresser for many years. She also worked in a sewing factory where her exceptional work ethic and skill led her to being promoted to train new employees. No matter where she worked, taking care of her family was always her greatest priority. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sewing, traveling, archery, and shooting her shotgun. Beth especially loved animals and never could resist taking in a stray pet that needed a home. At one time, Beth was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she volunteered to drive the church bus on Sunday mornings and sang in the choir. Among Beth’s fondest childhood memories were playing with Sammy Whitley across the street, riding horses, and spending time with her sisters. The things that brought her the greatest joy were her sons and stepson. She once wrote that her proudest family moments were the births of her sons. Beth will be remembered for her strength, honesty, independence, and deep love for her family. She had a caring spirit, a resilient nature, and a way of making those around her feel protected and loved. She is survived by her children, Bryan Parrish and wife, Kay; Steve Parrish and girlfriend, Dawn; and stepson, Danny Falkner; her sister, Jo Haile; grandchildren, Nicholas Parrish; McCall Hubenak and husband, Reid; Cody Falkner, Zachary Falkner and David Falkner; and great-grandchildren Lainee and Lorelei Hubenak. She was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch Arvil Sims and Ella Dee Cagel; her husband, Robert E. Falkner; and her sister, Swaynee McCasland. Beth’s memory will live on through the many lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for family. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Briarcliff Nursing Home and Hospice of East Texas for their compassionate care, kindness, and patience shown to Beth and her family. In honor of Beth’s life, donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas.
