Patricia "Pat" Ann Bruce Hill

Services for Patricia Ann Bruce Hill (Pat), 90 years old, will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Tyler. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler, Texas, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Patricia Hill passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 in Allen, Texas. She was born August 30, 1932 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Creed Selmer “Bill” Bruce and Velma Pearl “Hooksie” Hooks Pat lived in Tyler since 1980 and moved to Allen January of 2022 to be near family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tyler. She was an avid bridge player. She loved playing all kinds of games and video games. Her favorite was Super Mario Brothers. She loved crossword puzzles. She loved Jeopardy and never had a wrong answer. She loved cooking and the Food Network. She loved to read. She was so smart. When she was in the hospital a week ago, her nurse was from Kenya and she learned to say “thank you” and “I love you” in Swahili to say to her every time she walked in. Pat has always volunteered. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She volunteered at the church in Commerce Texas before moving to Dallas. She volunteered at St Mark Presbyterian in Dallas until she moved to Tyler and then she volunteered at First Presbyterian in Tyler. Pat was a very devoted Presbyterian, and came from a long line of Presbyterian ministers dating back to 1635. Pat, proven through DNA, was a descendant of King Robert the Bruce, and she was very proud of her Scottish ancestry. Her granddaughter, Allison, and she would research hours of genealogy together. She also loved Scotch and Gin/Tonics and at 5 pm every night she had her happy hour. Pat was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was in numerous pageants. One being the Texas Beauty Pageant. She loved her family very much. She met her husband Bill Hill at East Texas community College in math class and they married December 21, 1950 and Bill absolutely loved her. He showered her with love and gifts all the time. At the time of his death in 2017 they had been married 67 years. Pat had one son, Richard Allen Hill, and his wife, Tammy Marie Hill, both of Longview, Texas. Pat was “Nana” to 4 grandchildren: From Richard and previous wife Nancy Smith Hill: Allison Hill Farooq and her husband Umar Farooq both of Allen, Texas Maggie Hill from Texas From Richard and Tammy: Katherine Amanda Hill Schrumpf and Alex Schrumpf of Paris, France Richard Matthew Hill and Deanna Hill of Austin Texas Pat had 2 great-grandchildren: Anthony Wayne Frazier Hill Harris and his wife, Melody Garcia Harris, of Dallas, Texas Nicholas Reid Harris of Denton, Texas Pat was a very loving aunt to Stephanie Burkley of Garland, Texas and Steven Cargile of Burbank, California and Kim Woodruff of McKinney, Texas Pat had many people she considered very dear to her. She loved all her church friends. She loved The Rev. Dr. Stuart Baskin very dearly and she had two of her best friends, Lousie Eberle and Sally Marsh. Pat had her cat Sammie who stayed by her side until her last breath. Pallbearers will be Anthony Harris, Nicholas Harris, Matthew Hill, Umar Farooq, Bilal Farooq, Jawad Farooq, and Ryan William.
