Richard Larry Warren

Richard Larry Warren, 75, died on August 12, 2026 in Tyler, Texas. Larry was born on February 24th, 1951 in Angleton, Texas. He was the son of Sally Mahaffey and David Warren. Larry’s early life was shaped by his love for history, aviation, and a passion for playing and writing his own songs on guitar. Following Larry’s early life working at F&W Food Store, Larry would go on to graduate from Texas Eastern University with a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Larry built a successful career for himself across multiple fields of expertise. Larry founded and owned an insurance inspection business, he would later go on to write his own computer programming for that business. He was a highly successful salesman, Correctional Officer, and finished his time on earth, as a supervisor security guard in Tyler, Texas. Larry was also significantly involved in his community, serving for many years as a Volunteer Sheriff Deputy with Smith County, serving as president of the Tyler Soccer Association, serving as an official Texas Tennis Referee, and coaching all four of his children' s soccer teams. Larry loved old TV shows like The Andy Griffith show, being outdoors, and his loyal companion dog, Binny. Larry’s greatest love and achievement was his family. Larry was married to Lynn Warren for 54 years and together they raised 4 kids, Rochelle, Rick, Katherine, and Lynnsey. Larry is survived by his wife Lynn Warren. His children Rochelle Rudolph and her husband Nathan, Rick Warren and his wife Joy, Katherine Young and her husband Evan, and Lynnsey Quillen and her husband Todd and his 15 grandchildren Madison Rudolph and his wife Cecilee, Meredith Acosta and her husband Christian, Mallory Rudolph, Ryan Warren, Brooke Warren, Luke Warren, Layton Young, Barrett Young, Warren Young, Katherine Claire Young, Connor Quillen, Casey Quillen, Tanner Quillen, Parker Quillen, and last but not least Lyndi Quillen. Larry is also survived by his father, David Warren, his sister Rebecca Warren, and his sister Debbie Massey and her husband Dwayne. He is preceded in death by his mother Sally Mahaffey and his step-father Hugh Mahaffey, and his brother Randy Warren. He was a lovable jokester who could make friends with anyone. He would drop everything to show up for those that he loved. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who were fortunate enough to know him. His funeral will take place on August 29th at 2:00pm at Stewart Funeral Home at 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy in Tyler, TX. Visitation will directly follow the service, the visitation time will be a potluck so please feel free to bring a dish or side.
