Rivie "Ruby" Lee Aiken

Services for Rivie “Ruby” Lee Aiken, 91, of Tyler, will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Thoene and Rev. Chad Brantley officiating. Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery in Flint under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Aiken passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at The Hospice of East Texas. She was born June 13, 1923 in Flint to Glen Elwood and Lela Jones Cope. Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gresham. Ruby was a wonderful mother and grandmother and enjoyed the little people in her life. Her smile was captivating and contagious. Among the many things she enjoyed, her favorites were gardening, garage sales, canning and traveling with her family, whom she loved so dearly. More than anything, she enjoyed watching the Price is Right. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Aiken, Sr. and a son, George F. “Butch” Aiken, Jr. She is survived by her loving family including son, William Aiken and wife Bess of Garland; daughters, Carolyn Rice and husband David of Burleson, Pam Steinbeck and John Burns of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Tina Saxon and husband Mack of Gresham; Karla Hutchinson and husband Joe of Flint; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters; 4 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Keith Rice, Joey Aiken, Brian Aiken, Aaron Aiken, Joseph Aiken, Scott Aiken, Matt Cooper and Joe Hutchinson. Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, one hour prior to the service on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. A special “Thank You” goes to the following for providing care of our mother for the past several years, Girling Home Health Care, Inez Allen, Kay Jones, Choice Home Rehab, Providence Park Nursing Home Rehab, Dr. Robert Tompkins with UT Health Northeast and Heart to Heart Hospice.
