Robert "Bob" Holsomback

Robert Lee “Bob” Holsomback, of Tyler, Texas, passed away on April 25, 2023 at the age of 87. He died peacefully after suffering a stroke. Bob was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 20, 1936, to Dr. Joseph and Francis Holsomback. The second oldest of four children, he attended Robert E Lee High School in Baytown Texas, where he participated in track and the Boy Scouts of America achieving the honor of Eagle Scout as well as being the school photographer for the yearbook. He went on to the University of Texas in Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering. Bob met the love of his life in 1983, Nancy Sanford. They were married in 1986 in Houston, Texas and moved to Flint, Texas in 1996 where they have been members of Southside Baptist Church. Bob loved the outdoors and was a talented craftsman. His love for the outdoors came from being part of the Scouts and years of family deer hunting in Central Texas. He and Nancy enjoyed travel and especially loved the Canadian Rockies where they spent their honeymoon and 25th wedding anniversary. Together, they traveled dozens of times to the Great Smokey Mountains. Upon retirement he began woodworking and was an active member of the East Texas Woodworkers Club. Bob was a faithful and passionate volunteer and supporter of Breckenridge Village, a caring residential community for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. JC Holsomback, Sr. and brother, Joseph C Holsomback. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Howard “Lee” (Vanessa) Holsomback of Sterling Virginia, Hunt (Pamela) Holsomback of Englewood Colorado; daughters, Hope Holsomback of Remington Virginia and Heather Ruth (Elliott) Sneed of Farmingdale New York; grandchildren, Hunt Jr., Karl, Abby, Micah and Reagan; brother Thomas and sister Janette; and half dozen nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703 on Friday April 28th from 5 to 7 pm and Saturday April 29th at 10 am, respectively. Burial will be Monday May 1st at 1 pm in Houston, Texas at Brookside Memorial Park, 13401 East Texas Fwy & Lauder Road, Houston, Texas 77039.
