Ross B. Meek

Services for Ross Burr Meek, 86, of Tyler, will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Ken Brumley, Mike Parks and Rev. Capt. Dale McKee officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 AM at Cathedral in The Pines Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Ross Burr Meek of Tyler went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, May 13, 2017. This loving husband, caring father, proud grandfather and great grandfather is completely healed and whole in the presence of our Heavenly Father. We rejoice with him and are forever grateful to have been loved by him. Ross was born to Edward Tate Meek and Lee May Harper Meek on March 9, 1931, in Hammon, Oklahoma. He graduated as Valedictorian from Sentinel High School, then attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He began a successful 40 year career with Santa Fe Railroad which took to him to Dallas, Topeka and Chicago before retiring at age 58 in 1989 as an executive officer of the company. He loved his job and made many lifetime friends at the Santa Fe and at the churches he served faithfully throughout his life. Ross married Mary E. (Pat) Hoover Green in 1971 and they celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary in January. Together they enjoyed loving their 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, entertaining their many friends and serving their churches in many capacities-all for the glory of God. They especially loved singing and traveling with the Celebration and Highest Praise Choirs of Green Acres Baptist Church here in Tyler. Ross came out of retirement for 12 years to fulfill another dream of serving God and ministering to others at The Stewart Family Funeral Home, where he inspired us all as he worked tirelessly to bless and meet the needs of many families. Most importantly of all, Ross loved and honored God with his life and served His precious Savior, Jesus Christ. He blessed all of our lives in so many ways. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Keith Green. Ross is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Pat) Meek; his children, Lynne and her husband Robert McKee, Paula Meek Kimbrough, Pam and her husband Aly Miller, Don Green, Marsha and her husband Willis Bowman. He is also survived by his grandchildren Chrystal and Marcus Osborn, Doug and Melissa Kimbrough, Dori and Brandon Ballard, Darren and Amber Kimbrough, Dyan Kimbrough, Meredith and Jacob Bingham, Laurelyn and Franklyn Adams, Lindsay Booker, Dale and Becky McKee, Susan McKee and Jessica Green; and great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Pallbearers will be Doug Kimbrough, Darren Kimbrough, Brandon Ballard, Marcus Osborn, Franklyn Adams, Jacob Bingham and Dale McKee. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
