Sean McCarty

Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven. John 13: 34: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. Robert Sean McCarty was born June 20, 1981, in Tyler, Texas. Sean went to meet his Lord and Savior on February 18, 2024. Sean was truly a light to everyone who knew him and was frequently referred to as “the Gentle Giant”. At 6’4”, he had an imposing stature, but within minutes you knew he had a heart as big as his entire body. Sean was a loving, kind, and generous soul. He loved his family and friends with all his heart. If you ever met Sean, he instantly thought of you as a friend. He was passionate about his faith and loving others. He enjoyed watching the sport of rodeo – especially bull riding and tie-down calf roping, he loved music, guitars, and motorcycles. Sean is survived by his father Bo McCarty, his mother and step-father Ree and Robert Carlson, his brothers and sister -in laws, Brent and Rachel McCarty, Jordan, and Samantha Carlson, and John and Lari Carlson. Sean has five nieces and nephews he adored Evelyn, Elizabeth, Emerson, Dalton, and Kaison. He is survived by his grandmothers Sue Hardy and Nina McCarty along with aunts and uncles Tina (Marty) Ballard, Melissa (Brian) Daigle, Susan (Greg) Huskey, and Sarah (Brad) Beam. Ten cousins Grayson, Hannah, Neil, Jacob, Coleman, Ethan, Maddie Grace, Rachel Ann, Hailey, and Rylee. Sean also leaves behind his loving family of caretakers at Pine Tree Lodge Skilled Nursing Center. Although Sean struggled with Epilepsy for 23 years of his life, he never let his condition dim his light. He remained positive about his future and one day being seizure-free. Sean is seizure-free now and walking the streets of Heaven with his loved ones who have gone before him. His one message to us all is to love one another, be kind, and come to know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior because he can’t wait to show you around Heaven when you get there! A very special thank you to the entire staff of Pine Tree Lodge Skilled Nursing Center in Longview, Texas for the care and companionship they provided for Sean. Additionally, Dr. Richard Tyer and his staff for their devotion and attentiveness to Sean during the many years they provided treatment. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Mixon Cemetery in Mixon, Texas.
