Shannon Wood

A memorial service celebrating the life of Shannon Elizabeth Wood, 47, of Whitehouse will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Stuart Baskin and Rev. Pam Leach officiating. Private burial will be at Bullard Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Ms. Wood passed away on July 2, 2009 at Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. She was born on September 21, 1961 in Columbia, Missouri to William R. and the late Virginia Wood. She moved to Tyler when she was 13. Shannon graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1980 where she was selected Miss Robert E. Lee her senior year. Due to her love of the outdoors, she interned at Yellowstone National Park after graduation. But it was her passion for teaching that brought her back to Texas where she obtained an education degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. Shannon taught in the Tyler Independent School District for over 10 years and just completed her 9th year with the Jacksonville Independent School District. Ms. Wood is preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Wood. Shannon is survived by her loving family including her son, Michael Pritchard and his fiancée Megan Hedrick; daughters, Lindsay Pritchard and Amy Enlow; her father William R. Wood; her brother William R. Wood II and wife Kelly of Bullard; her nephews Ryan Wood, Jess Wood, Chris Wood, Cade Wood and Marquez Franklin; her fiancée Jimmy Shepherd of Whitehouse; aunts Martha Griffith O’Donnell and husband Pat of Ouray, Colorado and Susan Bates Griffith of Columbia, Missouri, Beth Glock of Liberty, Missouri; cousins Carrie Weston, Stacey Leech, Kristen Lentz, Mitch Glock, John Glock and Chris Ottinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Liz Flynn of Austin and Jill O’Farrell of Longview. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
