Sue Hauk Chapman

Sue Hauk Chapman went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 18, 2015. She spent her last weeks in her own home surrounded by family and friends who love her so. She was born in Frost, Texas on March 9, 1933 to her mother and father, Gladys Carrell Hauk and Willis Carlisle Hauk. She was the second of their seven children. The family moved to Bullard, Texas and Sue graduated from Bullard High School where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She was one of a dozen or so who graduated in her class and has remained close to her former classmates. God gave her a tremendous amount of musical talent and she excelled as a pianist. She attended the St. Louis Institute of Music in St. Louis, Missouri. She also attended Tyler Junior College and was an Apache Belle traveling with them to several places around the country. After marriage, she lived in Dallas; Wichita, Kansas; Fort Worth; and Tyler. Sue worked very hard over the years to raise her five children whom she has showered with love and attention. She has unconditionally loved her children, their spouses and her precious grandchildren all these years and is adored by all of them. Her passing from this life to the next will not stop her love for them nor theirs for her -- for love is eternal. Sue has been a faithful Christian and an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church where she attended services and Sunday school classes. Her faith and daily reading of her Bible and devotionals has been an inspiration to all who know her. Sue loved playing the piano and over the years, she played at many weddings, church functions, and private events. She may be best known for playing the piano several times a week for over 20 years at the Hollytree Country Club. In addition to playing the piano, until just a few months ago, she worked for her dear friend, Betty Whitten, at Daisy’s. For close to twenty years, she worked full-time at ETMC’s business office where she made many close friends. Sue is preceded in death by her first child, Kelly Carlisle Chapman; her father, Willis Carlisle Hauk; her mother, Gladys Carrell Hauk; her older sister, Mary Dell Hauk Gallop; her brother-in-law, Roy Gallop; and her nephew, Jay Miller. She is survived by her children, Stacey Chapman Harrison and her husband, Frank Harrison; Mark Chapman and his wife, Lori Wakefield Chapman; Leslie Chapman Pierce and her husband, Rodney Pierce, Peyton Chapman Pollacia and her husband, Tony Pollacia; Page Chapman and his wife, Bridget Maloney Chapman; her grandchildren: Susannah and Tori Harrison, Spencer Chapman, Sarah Beth Pierce, Wilson, Cooper, and Tucker Pollacia, and John Angus “Jack” Chapman; her brothers and sisters: Charles Hauk and wife, Lina; Buddy Hauk and wife, Marina; John Paul Hauk and wife, Ann; Brenda Hauk Miller; and Becky Hauk Brownell and husband, Ralph; many cherished nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Visitation will be at Stewart’s Family Funeral Home on Monday evening, July 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service for Sue will be held in the chapel at Green Acres Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 21st at 10 a.m., followed by a short graveside service at Bullard Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Before her passing, Sue requested that everyone wear bright clothing to the services and that the services be a celebration of her life and the life to come.
